Peikko has supplied Gravity Foundation Technology for the Verhonkulma wind park, located in South-West Finland. The project consists of six newest turbines from Nordex with a hub height of 135 meters, with an estimated annual production of 85 GWh.

Deliveries on Peikko’s side comprised of PSB® Headed Studs and Foundation Reinforcement. Peikko is also responsible for the foundation design and structural calculations. The foundation solution from Peikko saves on materials used and decreases the total CO₂ emissions.

When both reinforcement and design are supplied by the same company, the quality control becomes easier and site work faster. The total construction time is reduced by using Peikko's solutions.

OX2, the developer of the wind park, executes the project on behalf of IKEA Retail Finland, part of Ingka Group, which is financing the construction. IKEA Retail Finland intends to become energy independent by 2020 with help of renewable energy solutions. Nordex Energy GmbH delivers 6 turbines with a hub height of 135 meters. Empower PN Oy was assigned for infrastructure works, including foundations, roads and network. Caruna Oy is the company responsible for grid connection of the wind turbines.

OX2 has taken investment decision to construct four wind farms in Finland, of which Verhonkulma is one of those. The four projects are together the largest subsidy-free wind power construction in the Nordics with a total of 25 wind turbines and a combined capacity of 107.4 MW.

IKEA Retail Finland, part of Ingka Group, is financing the construction, with the commitment to own the farms once they are fully operational in the beginning of 2020.
