DELTABEAM® Provides Extra Headroom in A Senior Housing Project.

The Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center North Campus in Bismarck, North Dakota broke ground on October 16th, 2019 with phase 1 of 2 being a four-story, 207,000 square foot building. The first phase of the project will house 192 beds and include a chapel, beauty salon, nurse stations, kitchens on each floor as well as additional features. The expansion has been designed to help ensure that Missouri Slope can meet the needs of both current and future residents.

Throughout the design process, significant headroom issues were identified in the interior corridors. Through a collaborative effort between Peikko, Roers Construction, Sandman Engineering, and Pope Architects, it was determined that integrating DELTABEAM® on those interior beam lines would result in a cost-effective solution to resolve the headroom concerns identified on the project.

"We explored many framing options for our project and decided on DELTABEAM® which we were very happy with.  We had elevation constraints and DELTABEAM® allowed us to have a very thin structural profile which gave room for mechanical systems and allowed the owner to have the head clearance they desired.  DELTABEAM® was very helpful during the design phase and construction went quickly.  We would definitely use DELTABEAM® again." Says Justin Schoenberg, Project Engineer at Sandman Structural Engineers.

DELTABEAM® is being used in North Dakota for the first time and Peikko is proud to provide extra flexibility and benefits for such a high scale project as the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center North Campus in Bismarck.

“It is pretty exciting to be making history with the first North Dakota project to use DELTABEAM®S. We are glad that we chose to move forward with this innovative product for this high scale project. This allowed more flexibility for the owner and the design team.  Our crew is impressed with all of the benefits it will provide to the building design.” commented Shane Roers, Roers President.

Phase 1 of the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center North Campus expansion is scheduled to open its doors in Late 2021.
