The 65,500m2 Mall Parkade in Fourways is one of the largest precast parkade structures designed and constructed in southern Africa.

Flyovers from William Nicol and Witkoppen Roads provide direct, seamless access to the Mall through the parkade.

Peikko provided HPM® Rebar Anchor Bolts and HPKM® 24, 30 and 39 Column Shoes for bolted connections of precast concrete columns to foundations and columns to columns.

The new parkade has been designed to allow for the construction of a two-storey hotel above it.

Standardization and repetition were the key factors for achieving the high-speed installation of precast concrete frame elements while ensuring a high level of safety for the shoppers.

WSP’s experience in the design and documentation deliverables for the precast framing mechanism at the Fourways Mall Parkade was most invigorating and a new first challenge in South Africa.

The proposed solutions by Peikko, most certainly facilitated the ease and speed of erection of all the precast vertical elements.

Allowing for a high accuracy due to the lowest tolerances required in the bolted column connections with special built-in components such as anchor bolts HPM®, column shoes HPKM® and beam shoes were all specifically designed and developed by Peikko for the Fourways Mall, 7 level Northeast Parkade.
